This past weekend was the annual Tour of the Gila. It’s a road bike race in Silver City. It is a five stage race that starts on Wednesday and finishes on Saturday. I mentioned that I started working for my brother Steven, who works for Northwestern Mutual. The El Paso and Las Cruces offices have teamed up with the Livestrong Foundation (Lance Armstrong’s Cancer research foundation). This Saturday we drove up to Silver City to help work the Livestrong booth at the race. We sold bracelets and helped people sign up for a cancer research petition. We also were able to watch a few of the races, especially the one that Lance was one. We didn’t get to actually meet him, but it was still a fun experience. By the way, Lance didn’t win the stage that we watched, Taylor Finn did.
